The difference between a dark room and a well lit one lies in one thing, a switch on the wall. When you walk into a room that is dark, you put yourself in danger. You run the risk of bumping into a walk or knocking something over.
However, when you walk into a room full of light, you can clearly see your way. There’s no risk of unseen injury. You won’t bump your knee up against the edge of the desk. You won’t knock over the lamp off the night stand. Why? Because you can clearly see your way.
In the same way, so much in everyday life lies in the power of a switch. God didn’t promise us that every day would be a joyful day, or a day full of light. No, there will be some dark days. There will be days when, if you’re not careful, you’ll run the risk of defeat, frustration, sadness and loss of peace.
With just the flip of a switch you can switch on God’s peace and joy in your heart. The choice is yours.
When negative thoughts come into play, that’s when you have to dig your heels in and say, “I know I have every reason to get down in the dumps, but I won’t wallow in despair. I’m going to switch on joy, peace and contentment.”
Just like the switch on the wall, when you flip it, dark days turn into bright days. Your frown gets turned upside down. Past hurts turn into forgiveness.
Make the choice today and flip the switch. When you do so, you’ll walk into the brighter days that God has for you as you charge forth on your journey of life!
