But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”… 2 Corinthians 12:9
The Bible refers to the Lord’s grace as the unmerited favor of God. The good news for us, is that God honors us even when we don’t deserve it.
I love how in the scripture, God says, “My grace is sufficient for you…” Think about that word sufficient. What does it mean to you?
The word sufficient means, “enough to meet a need or purpose; adequate.” God’s grace is just enough to meet your need. He never runs out of grace. His grace doesn’t barely meet our needs. God’s unmerited favor isn’t here today and gone tomorrow. No, God’s word says His grace is sufficient for you.
That means you’ll never be without. You’ll never be in lack. You’ll never have to want for anything. When you’re running on empty, running on fumes, God refills your tank with His grace, mercy, honor, and favor.
It doesn’t matter who you are. Whatever your background, creed or history, God’s mercies and compassions are new everyday. He doesn’t base this sufficient grace on your past or where you’ve come from. No, His grace for you is unmerited and undeserving and it’s adequate enough to supply all your needs. And not only that, but the scripture goes on to say that His power is made perfect in your weakness.
When you’re running on empty, know that God will equip you with everything you need to complete your mission. God is well able to supply you with what it takes to endure every circumstance.
Look to Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, for the strength to endure the times of weakness. And know that His grace is sufficient enough to strengthen you in every area of your life as you charge forth on your journey!
