When pressures of life come, it’s easy for us to get discouraged. For many, It’s easy to let the circumstances of life take control.

And the truth is that obstacles are always going to be a part of the journey. Storms will always be present. There will never come a day when adversities will stop coming.

The good news is that we serve a God who wants us to have an abundant life even during those difficult times. There is no test or trial that can take your joy away. There is no difficulty that take away the abundant life that God has promised you.

Jesus says in John 10:10 that “the enemy comes to steal, kill and destroy but I have come that you may have abundant life.” That means a life full of joy even during the difficult times. That means peace even when it seems there is no hope.

You have a choice- you can either let the circumstances control your way of life, or you can let your way of life control your circumstances. In other words, instead of becoming weary when problems come, tell your problems that your God is the greatest problem solver ever known to man. Your troubles may be big but tell your troubles you serve a bigger God.

You can have joy in the good times as well as the bad times. When you take your eyes off God and focus on the storms, just like Peter, you’ll begin to sink. And as a result, your joy goes, your strength goes, your positive thoughts leave. But when you take your eyes off the storms and focus on God, your happiness is restored, your faith gets stronger, your strength is renewed.

Now, this is not to say that you won’t feel discouraged at times. This is not to say that, you’re always going to be happy, peaceful and content. No, this is to say that you have a choice to be joyful even through the storm. Despite all the circumstances, peace is available to you.

Deuteronomy 30:19 says, “I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life.” My friends, God wants you to have an abundant life full of joy, excitement, peace and contentment. Make a decision and choose a life full of happiness and watch God bring more peace in your life as you charge forth on your journey of life!
