Take a Lick and Keep on Ticking
Posted by: | CommentsTimex watches are known for their durability. They use to advertise their watches with ads where they’d put the watches to the test by exposing them to extreme torture. They were tossed over the Grand Coulee Dam or they were strapped to the propeller of an outboard motor.
Through all this they wanted to emphasize one thing, durability. They wanted the audience of viewers all over the world to see that these watches could be exposed to dire circumstances and still come up ticking. Through this, Timex coined the slogan, “Takes a lick and keeps on ticking.”
Timex has become one of the top selling watches in history known for their ability to withstand the test of time. People all over the globe invested in a Timex watch for their endurance. They wanted something that was going to last. I’m not selling or promoting Timex watches but I think that there is a great take home value in the analogy here.

Are you durable? Are you able to withstand the test of time? When you take a fall do you stay down, or like Timex do you take a lick and keep on ticking?
All the greats in the world today have taken a fall. They’ve been exposed to situations where people thought that they weren’t going to make it. They didn’t succeed the first go around. No, they had to take a hit. But they kept on ticking, if not they wouldn’t be the success that they are.
Will you be among this number? Will you press on to withstand the test of time, or are you going to just throw in the towel in extreme torturous situations?
