Are You Spreading The Good News?

By

In this day in time, with the economy in the state that it is, people are getting more and more discouraged. Jobs are being cut left and right, homes being foreclosed on, and debt is at an all time high. People are losing hope across the board.

More and more people are developing anxiety and depression. People need to hear an encouraging word. For a change people want to know what’s the good news?

Are you spreading the good news? Are you speaking an encouraging word into the life of a friend today?

You never know, your next door neighbor may be on the verge of a nervous break down. That person passing you on the street may be one straw from throwing in the towel. I believe that as children of God, we should share a kind word with those around us.

You don’t have to be all deep. You don’t have to know every scripture in the Bible. In fact, I find that the simple words are better — people can relate better when conversing on a down to earth level.

You’ll be surprised, sometimes something as simple as a compliment provides leverage to turn someone’s day around. Pay attention to those around you. Compliment them on something they’re wearing. Tell them, “Your smile is beautiful, you should wear it more often.” Oftentimes these compliments are more effective when they come out of the blue.

If while conversing with someone, you get a vibe of low self-esteem or insecurity, tell them how valuable they are. Affirm to them that they are a victor and not a victim. Let them know that they are equipped to accomplish anything in the world that they want to accomplish.

If you get a sense that someone is overwhelmed or stressed, let them know that God will supply all their needs. Let them know that they can release all their burdens to God and He will provide a way of escape.

Be sensitive. Don’t let another opportunity go by with out sharing the good news! Instead of talking about recent events that are depressing, make mention of something that brings joy to the day!

My friend, it’s a new day! I challenge you to step up and take responsibilities! Be accountable for your next door neighbor. Sow a seed! Leave your mark of encouragement today and together you and countless others will experience the joy that God has in store for you!

  1. Jarrod: I really liked this one. I think you do have to be cognizant of what you are putting out there and how you are positively contributing. We really do need to focus on contributing in a good way and sharing the good news.

  2. Jarrod,

I could not agree with this post anymore. I have been on both sides of the coin. The spreader and the receiver. I remember when simple words gave me the biggest lift. And, I can also recall lifting someone’s spirit up.

You’re right, we do not know what someone is going through. It is our duty, as positive people, to spread our positiveness.

I’m going out of my way today to spread even more ++++++++++++++ !

    Hi jarrod,
this hit home again. there’s a lot random acts of kindness such smiling, encouraging, sharing the good news ……. can do for a person. it brings warmth, comfort, hope… but it also makes the individual sharing the good news experience a sense of geniune fulfilment.
    take care and nice weekend

    Jarrod,

About 10 minutes ago, I just realized that a job opening closed online while I was putting the final touches on my resume to apply for it. Then, I noticed in my inbox an email from you with a link to this article.

You need to get out of my head. ;)

My mistake I read your comment wrong. 10 Minutes ago you say… well that’s a big difference. I’m so sorry to hear that, I will certainly pray that you do receive good news. I guess I should wear my glasses while moderating comments from here on out huh? :P LOL
