Are You In Indifference Mode?
Are You In Indifference Mode?
ByDo you get agitated about little petty things that happen during your day? Or do you take things with a grain of salt?
My friend It’s not the will of God for you to go around bogged down by the cares of life. He wants you to excel into a greater level of thinking. He wants you to focus on the greater things in life.
You see, when you’re in indifference mode, you allow things to roll off your shoulders. You say “no matter what happens today, I will not be affected.” When you’re indifferent, you make the decision to be a positive effect, rather than to be affected negatively.
When someone cuts you off in traffic, shrug your shoulders and say “oh well… I will not allow this to affect me negatively.” When someone walks into the supermarket in front of you and allows the door to shut in your face, don’t allow that to get the best of you. Just say, “this isn’t the first time a door has been shut in my face, and it probably won’t be the last time.” After all, when one door closes another is open to you.

I’m reminded of the heavy weight champion and while he’s in the ring, his best defense is his strongest offense. In other words, he doesn’t allow his opponent to gain leverage at his expense. He learns to roll with the punches. He learns to dodge the big blows.
My friend if you take a hit in life, make a point to roll with the punches. You’ve got to learn to take a lick and keep on ticking.
Proverbs 24:16 exclaims that “A just man falls seven times, and rises up again…“
Even if you get knocked down, know that you can get back up and take control of your day. Remember, it’s not a Total Knock Out if you get back up. The boxing match isn’t over until one of the boxers is knocked out indefinitely.
Even if you take a major blow in life and find that you don’t have the energy to press on, know that God is on your side. He’s making a way of provision for you. Remember, if God be for you, who can be against you.
Sometimes, you may feel weak; you may feel like you don’t have the energy to rise up. But remember, 2 Corinthians 12:10 tells us “That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.“
Whether faced with petty things, such as someone cutting you off in traffic or more difficult hardships in life, allow yourself to roll with the punches. Make a decision to operate in indifference mode and notice a major change as you charge forth on your journey of life.

Hi Jarrod,
This reminds me of the phrase,’Be like water…’ It is so important NOT to assume in any situation. If you’re cut off in traffic, you never know if the other person is off to tend to an emergency. Life communicates to us in interesting ways. It’s great to have supportive friends to give you a fresh perspective.
Have a blessed weekend,
Kim
This is so true, Kim. We never know what the case is on the other end. We should try to put ourselves in their shoes and give them the benefit of a doubt!
I appreciate you, have a great weekend!
Jarrod:
Such an important topic. We really do need to make certain that we can role with the punches and always make certain we are committed to doing all we can to pursue our desires. The reality is that things in life are not always going to go our way. The question we all need to ask ourselves is how is our mindset and are we good at managing through challenges. This is one of the greatest tests in life and something that we should continue to work on strengthen. Very well said.
Hi Jarrod,
Great post. Yes one definitely needs to know about themselves. I believe the take away from the article is “My friend if you take a hit in life, make a point to roll with the punches.”

Hi Jarrod,
I used to live in an indifference mode in my teens and 20′s because I felt no one understood me. Indifference didn’t hurt. Caring caused me pain at the time.
Not it’s foreign to me and I’m in the top 10% of the happy people in the world like my friend Karl likes to say. Nice post.
hi jarrod,
how are you?
did you miss me lol!!! the last week has been hectic so i am catching up on blogs. this post reminds me of two scripture; we are more than conquerors through christ who strengthens me and it also reminds me of phil 4 :13 i can do all things through christ who strengthens me.
take care and have a lovely week.
Hi Sibyl,
I agree, things aren’t always going to go our way. Thank you so much for your encouragement. Glad that you stopped by my friend!
Hi Tess,
Thanks for stopping by. Sometimes we just have to let things go. Some things in life aren’t worth us extending our energy into. Thanks for sharing!
Hi Jarrod,
I’m in huge *difference* mode; in that I want to make a difference and sometimes that requires me to be different. To fnd the positive in a situation, to appreciate what I am given, to remain open to every moment as it is rather than how I wish it to be. It requires me to have Faith, focus on healthy and whole, grow the good in my life, share a smile, pay attention. And it is quite fun!!!
Oh, Jarrod, I would love to be like this all the time, but I must admit I can get frustrated and bogged down by the little petty things. I do try though not to get all worked up over things and I’ve learned the lesson of not taking things personally. This is a good reminder for me to remember as you say that “It’s not the will of God for you to go around bogged down by the cares of life”.
