Focus On The Good

What’s your attitude towards life? Are you going around expecting something good out of life, or do you go around with a critical defeatist mind-set?

Remember what you focus most of your time and attention on is what you will get more out of in life. Focus on that which you’re grateful for rather than the things you don’t have.

Sometimes it’s very easy to fall into that greedy mind-set of wanting more, more, more. But I dare you to make a decision to focus on what what God has already placed in your possession. It’s those small things that make a huge difference.

Many times we get into that complex mind-set and we forget about the things that are dear to us. Well, I guess it’s true what they say, you never know how much you appreciate something until it’s gone.

Appreciate the intangible.

Give your attention to the intangible. Love, for instance, is one of the greatest gifts from God that we so easily overlook throughout our daily hustle. Love is something that can’t be bought with money. The best form is agape love because it’s the only love that shows no condition. It’s not based on what someone does for you, or a personality trait, it’s based on pure love for one another just as Jesus has for us.

Allow yourself to focus on the good in your life. When you look for the bad in anything, you will find it. If you look for the good in something, you’ll find it also. The good thing is whatever you place your time and attention on you will not be let down. Use this knowledge to your benefit.

Henry Ford said, “Whether you think you can or you can’t, you’re right.” If you say that you never can accomplish your goals, then sadly to say you’re right. If you affirm to yourself that you can accomplish many goals for the rest of your days, then you’re right also.

Remember, God says we are over-comers. Philippians 4:13 tells us, “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” Unfortunately the enemy is on the prowl trying to constantly convince you of the contrary. He wants you to think that you’ll never make it. Which will you pay attention to?

Give your time and attention to thoughts that are inspiring and uplifting to you. There is power in positive thoughts. Focus on those things that you are grateful for as you charge forth in your journey of life.

  1. Hi Jarrod, thank you for writing this post and for focusing on the good.

One thing I’ve learned about choosing positivity is it generates good feelings which, as you know, is so much more preferable than wasting a perfectly good day by being gripped with fear or worry or any other thing that doesn’t allow us to fully appreciate how wonderful being alive is.

  2. Hey Jarrod – very cool article here and I like the “I Can” image.

I’ve noticed you’ve made some awesome changes to your website – love the slide show at the top and your widget at the bottom right, under your Facebook profile. Keep it up, you are rocking!

@Belinda – Thank you! You make such a great point. One of the things that I’ve come to realize, and you’ve reaffirmed, is that most times when we feel happy, excited, or joyful, usually those feelings are associated with positive thoughts.

Depression, sadness, fear, worry, doubt, bitterness, and anger are usually associated with negative thoughts. Thanks for pointing that out!

@Jeremy – Thanks! Yeah I saw that image and thought it was very fitting. Especially with Philippians 4:13.

I wanted to do some changes especially at the top hopefully to help from the reader standpoint by featuring and highlighting the articles that have been viewed the most.

I guess the most viewed articles is an indication of what “the people” in general are looking for, which is my main goal is to give the majority what they want. So I implemented a featured article scroll in addition to the popular post just below the subscribe box.
