Garbage In, Garbage Out

Garbage In, Garbage Out

The media has the great ability to influence us in many ways. It can influence the choices we make, the music we listen to, and movies we watch. It even has influence over our views and opinions.

At what point in time do you take control over what enters into your mind and body? Do you have the ability to filter out what’s bad for you?

When I enter the house the first thing I do is turn on the t.v. When I’m in the car I’ve always got the radio playing, if not I’m listening to my favorite c.d.

The good thing, is that not all media is bad for us. We have the choice to tune into t.v. channels and radio stations that are educational and inspiring to our minds.

I’ve heard a statistic that our minds are constantly taking in information. Even when we’re sleep, out minds are awake processing information. Whether you’re consciously listening to a positive program on t.v. or not, your subconscious mind is taking in all of the information. You may even be in the next room, if your ears can hear it your mind is processing it.

Optimistic | OptimistKnowing what we know, we can take this information and use it for our good. If we watch programs or tune in to radio stations that aren’t uplifting, we are allowing those mediums to indirectly embed thoughts into our subconscious, which in turns has the ability to influence our thoughts, actions, and possibly our health.

For instance, if you listen to music that degrades women, or you watch programs that don’t uplift who you are as a person, then on a subliminal level you’re embedding beliefs deep down inside of you that aren’t healthy for you.

On the other hand, when you expose yourself to uplifting programs that are educational and inspirational, you may notice after watching them that you feel like doing something positive and constructive. This is because on a subliminal level, your mind is processing this information and creating positive emotions within you that allow you to feel like you can make great accomplishments.

My friend I challenge you to make better choices on what you allow to enter your mind. The choices we make have a big impact on our outcome and who we become. There’s a great saying, “Garbage In, Garbage Out.”  You wouldn’t put unleaded gas in a high performance engine would you? You must put high octane gas into it. The low octane, over a period of time will cause wear on the engine.

The same thing goes for us. We must feed our minds and bodies with treasures that are healthy and will allow us to perform our best. In the long run the garbage that enters your mind through mainstream media, may have a bad impact and hurt you in the long run. Weed out the deadly garbage in your life and only accept treasures and you will notice a huge difference in your quality of life, as you charge forth in your life journey.

Speaking from past experiences and foolish choices I’ve had some garbage in my life, so this post definitely resonate with me. I’m an aspiring motivational speaker and found this post inspiring. Keep up the good work. I may not comment all the time, but I’m reading. God bless.

@Ruby This resonates with me as well. I’m glad you find this inspiring.

On a side note, We all have our inspirations Yaro is a great inspiration for me. I love what he’s doing to help so many people. He has certainly helped me over the years.

  3. This is terrific. I’ve literally had to turn off the television in the last couple months to really start making serious progress in the passions I am pursuing. There is good stuff on TV, but so much of it is garbage and a time waster. Thanks for this great post.

@Jeremy I know me too… I’m working on filtering out some of the television that I watch. I’ve grown up in front of the television and radio, lol. So that’s a habit that I want to take more control over.
