Many people ignore that voice inside of them that guides them on the right path. You know, that voice inside that tells you to do this, don’t do that- go here, don’t go there. It’s that voice of wisdom, the voice of understanding.

It guides you, advises you, it will even motivate you if you let it. The problem is most people develop selective hearing when it comes to doing what is right.

We all have that voice of guidance inside of us. It’s as if we have a large volume control where we can turn up the voice when we like what it’s saying and turn it down when we don’t like what it’s saying.

It’s like an annoying, nagging friend. If you don’t like what they’re saying you either tune them out or leave the room. When you do like what they’re saying you’d tune in better than you would tune in your favorite song on the radio. If they were your favorite track on your ipod, you’d put them on repeat.

The problem is that most of the time when it comes to doing the things that we want to do, if it goes against what we know is right, we tune out that voice of reasoning. We listen to the voice that grants us permission as to why we should do what we want to do, even if it is wrong.

Good angel or bad angel

Optimistic | Optimist
It’s like the good angel vs the bad angel. You know the scene where the good angel sits on one shoulder advising you of what you should do, which is the right thing. Whereas, the bad angel sits on the other shoulder doing just the opposite, giving you reasons why you should do what YOU want to do, which isn’t always the right thing to do.

Take notice, the bad angel will never come out and say that’s he’s wrong. In fact, he’ll try to convince you that he’s right and the good angel is wrong. The bad angel knows that if he’s trying to sell you on his idea that it wouldn’t be too smart to tell you that he’s wrong.

I don’t know the statistics, and maybe I’m naive being the optimist that I am, but I’d like to think that most people have a natural tendency to want to do what is right. But we have even more of a tendency to do what WE want to do or do what makes us feel comfortable.

If doing what makes us feel comfortable is wrong, then more than likely we’ll tune out the voice that gives us Read More→

Focus On The Good

Posted by: | Comments (3)

What’s your attitude towards life? Are you going around expecting something good out of life, or do you go around with a critical defeatist mind-set?

Remember what you focus most of your time and attention on is what you will get more out of in life. Focus on that which you’re grateful for rather than the things you don’t have.

Sometimes it’s very easy to fall into that greedy mind-set of wanting more, more, more. But I dare you to make a decision to focus on what what God has already placed in your possession. It’s those small things that make a huge difference.

Many times we get into that complex mind-set and we forget about the things that are dear to us. Well, I guess it’s true what they say, you never know how much you appreciate something until it’s gone.

Appreciate the intangible.

Give your attention to the intangible. Love, for instance, is one of the greatest gifts from God that we so easily overlook throughout our daily hustle. Love is something that can’t be bought with money. The best form is Read More→

You know you’re favored by God when He allows you to see another day.

You know you’re favored by God when you take a deadly hit and keep on ticking.

You know you’re favored by God when you’ve back-slid and have been redeemed.

You know you’re favored by God when He calls you friend when all other friends have left.

You know you’re favored by God when He tells you that you can do all things through Christ which strengthens you, and you have no earthly skills whatsoever.

You know you’re favored by God when you’ve got a roof over your head.

You know you’re favored by God when you’ve simply got the breath of life.

You know you’re favored by God when He satisfies you with long life.

You know you’re favored by God when you’ve accomplished what the world said you never could.

You know you’re favored by God when you’ve fought the good fight of faith and have stayed in the race.

You know you’re favored by God when you’re loved and you’re a hater.

You know you’re favored by God when you’ve been hated on and had the strength to love.

You know you’re favored by God when the doctors tell you no but Jesus tells you yes.

What if you could take a magical trip into the future and evaluate your state of mind, your health, or lifestyle in general, would you change anything?

I hear so many people say if I knew what I knew now way back then, I would change (fill in the blank here.) What about those times where you thought, “if I had another chance to relive a certain situation I would change this or that”? Does this sound familiar?

This is a reminder of the constant thoughts that flood our minds and removes us from the current moment. There are few times when we’re actually comfortable in our current moment. Such times would include when we’re sleep, vacation, payday (smile), rest and relaxation or laying somewhere getting a full body massage, or spending quality time with friends and loved ones .

When you wake up and go to work, are you embracing the now, or are you looking forward to that party tonight with friends or that chance to come home and flop on the sofa? There’s a pattern that we experience when it comes to being in the moment. We’re either in the moment or we’re looking forward to a time of comfort that allows us to be in the moment.

Optimistic | OptimistSeems it all comes down to being comfortable huh?

You may think, well if I can just get to the day in time where I have this in order or I have that working in my favor, then I’ll be aye okay. When you’re comfortable with your current situation surrounding you and you have everything in place, then you will find it’s easier to conjure up a sense of satisfaction out of life. However if you’re not comfortable with your situation, then it’s rather difficult to be satisfied. It all comes down to our state of Read More→

I’m reminded of a favorite joke of mine about a group of elderly ladies who got pulled over by the highway patrol on the freeway. As the cop approached the window he said, “Ma’am I clocked you going 35mph.”

She says “Yes, yes officer I know.” The officer responded, “would you mind Read More→

Is ‘Hi How Are You’ Overrated?

Posted by: | Comments (3)

I had somewhat of an aha moment today as I was mingling with some friends along the way. When we see close friends and family members that we haven’t seen in a while, most times the first thing we say is “Hi, how are you?”

When you meet someone for the first time and shake their hand, what is the most Read More→
