Making Mistakes? Learn From Your Mistakes
Making Mistakes? Learn From Your Mistakes
ByAre you haunted by your past mistakes? Many times we find ourselves at fault, dwelling on the mistakes of our past.
It’s imperative that you realize that your past mistakes aren’t just stumbling blocks to keep you from reaching the finish-line. The best kind of lesson that you can learn in life comes from making mistakes. The lessons we learn when making mistakes are two fold:
1) We experience the first hand repercussions of making mistakes.
2) The price we pay when we make mistakes reminds us of what we don’t want to experience again in the future.
Think back for a moment to when you were a child and your parents told you not to touch the stove. You wondered why they told you not to touch the stove so what did you do? You went and touched the stove. You then experienced first hand what it felt like to touch a 400 degree burning stove. (lesson learned!)
After that, you probably learned to never touch a hot stove again in your life! Well, the thing about touching a hot stove is that our reflections make us jerk back; it’s an instinct.
Unfortunately, there are some mistakes in life that we don’t have the natural instinct for. I believe that God is talking to you time and time again, telling you not to take certain paths. Do you hear His call? or do you decide to go down the wrong path just to see what would happen if you disobeyed?
God allows us to make mistakes so that we will, not only learn from those mistakes but that we will also learn to trust in His will.
When you touched that hot stove, you didn’t dwell on the fact that, although your parents told you not to touch that hot stove, you did it anyway… you simply learned from the mistake and decided not to do that again, unless you want to experience a burnt finger. (such a no-no)
Remember my friend, mistakes are always going to be apart of your life. You wouldn’t be human if you didn’t make mistakes. You must learn from your mistakes and utilize the lessons that you’ve learned and let those lessons empower you.
Don’t stress over the painful hurts of yesterday for yesterday is gone; tomorrow is a new day. Philippians 3:13 tells us, “Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before…”
Look forward to your new day and boldly press towards your mark as you go forth in your life journey.
