Eight Ball Corner Pocket And Then…
Eight Ball Corner Pocket And Then…
ByI was watching a Billiards pool tournament on ESPN the other day and it amazed me how the pros not only aspire to get the balls in the pockets but they’re able to control where the cue ball will land in order to set up the next shot. To them the point doesn’t come when they get the balls in the pockets but the real point comes when they are able to execute the whole game by keeping control of the cue ball.
In the game of life, it may appear as though we’ve struck gold; we’ve got the 1 ball in the corner pocket but the cue ball doesn’t reposition itself in our favor. In other words, we don’t psych ourselves up for what’s happening next in life. We should develop a game plan for life and foresee what is ahead. Plan your future!
As I continued to watch the game, I noticed that the cue ball didn’t always land where they planned. As a part of their defensive strategy, if they knew that they had absolutely no chance of making the next shot, they would attempt to position the cue ball in a position that would make it difficult for their opponent to make the next shot.
This is key in life because the enemy is always plotting and scheming against us. No matter how hard we plan to make the next show, the enemy is always intercepting. Regardless, we must shoot for our goals. If we don’t shoot for something we’ll most certainly fall for anything.
We don’t know whats in store from day to day. I’ve heard a great saying, “The best offense is a strong defense.” The best thing we can do is arm ourselves against the attacks of the enemy.
When we find ourselves in an uncomfortable, unfamiliar position, our best offense is to use the attack of the enemy in our favor. What the devil meant for bad, God meant for good. Genesis 50:20 (NIV) says, “You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.”
Remember, that all things work together for good to them that love the Lord. You are destined for greatness. When it appears that your game plan is falling apart, continue to roll with the punches. Victory is yours today as you go through your life journey.
