Live Every Day To The Fullest
Live Every Day To The Fullest
ByWhat does it really mean to live each day like it’s our last? Metaphorically speaking, sometimes we wait until those, who are important to us, die before we give them their flowers.
A great songwriter once said, “Give me my flowers while I yet live so that I can see the beauty that they bring.” We wait until it’s too late to do what we’ve been putting off for so long and before we know it, we look up and our opportunity has passed.
The human psyche can be an interesting thing because many times the things that we have access to are the things we overlook but the things that we don’t have access to are the things that we value. I guess it’s true what they say: “absence makes the heart grow fonder.” What am I saying? We should value our time with those we love and appreciate everything that we have.
I’m reminded of another great song that simply tells us that tomorrow is not promised, let’s not let the moment slip away; our tomorrow very well could be today. In other words, tomorrow may be too late. Let’s give like today is our last day; lets be kinder and nicer because who knows, it could be your smile, attitude or gift of love that could change somebody’s life today.
They may see the God in you and say, “What’s the good news?” They may not see a way out and they may need to be reminded that God still cares and that He will provide a way of escape.
I believe that to live everyday to the fullest does not necessarily mean that we have to go bungee jump out of a plane or climb a mountain. Those things are great but when Jesus comes back, it won’t matter whether or not we’ve jumped out of a plane, what matters is if we’ve lived a life pleasing in His sight. My friend let’s not let Him catch us with our work undone.
I’m reminded about The Parable of The Ten Virgins in Matthew 25:1-13. To paraphrase, Jesus speaks of how the kingdom of Heaven is likened to ten virgins, (five foolish and five wise virgins.)
These virgins took their lamps and went out to meet the bride groom. The wise virgins brought oil with them in their vessels but the foolish brought none with them. As they waited for the bridegroom, they fell asleep. Meanwhile, in the midnight hour they heard a cry: “Behold, the bridegroom is coming; go out to meet him!”
They arose and lit their lamps, however the foolish virgins noticed that their lamps were growing dim. They didn’t have any oil so they asked the wise for oil. The wise responded “there is not enough oil for our lamps and yours.” They said, “go to buy oil from those who sell it.”
As the foolish virgins went to buy the oil, the bridegroom came and those who were ready went with him. Then the foolish came saying, “Lord please open to us!” but He answered, “Assuredly, I say to you, I do not know you.”
The scripture goes on to say in Matthew 25:13, “Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.”
My friend let us be ready, we never know when our Lord is coming but the bible tells us that He will come like a thief in the night. Let us be ready; Live every day like it’s your last!
