Laying The Foundation For Your New Years Resolutions And Alleviating Discouragement
ByNow that the opportunity has come to wipe the slate clean and start anew, we find ourselves laying down the foundation that will birth a new adventure in our life. After all we do know that we are to leave the past behind right? The word of God clearly affirms that we are to forget those things behind us and press forward towards the mark.
You may find yourself eager and excited to start fresh and make big things happen this year… at least I would hope so. If not, I encourage you, my friend, to stir up the excitement. Write down your vision and set realistic goals and delight yourself in them.
As you write down your goals, write down why you chose them. Write down how important they are to you and what may happen should you decide to forfeit your goals. I encourage you to do this so that when challenges come, you have this to fall back on and you will be reminded of what you are forfeiting.
Now that we’ve got our foundation laid and we’ve got a plan in place, we’re ready to take action.
Now for the optimistic outlook.
The tough thing about accomplishing new years resolutions, or any goal for that matter, is the discouragement that comes when we don’t see the results that we want. When we are presented with a challenge and we don’t see the progress that we feel we should see, we began to get discouraged and make excuses such as, “well, maybe this just isn’t for me” or “I’ll put this off for awhile.”
Does that sounds familiar? Well, the thing is, a while becomes a longer while and then before you know it, we’ve lost our fire and motivation.
The word of God reminds us in Zechariah 4:10 that we do not despise small beginnings. I want to encourage you that your work is not in vain.
The seed that you sow will reap you a harvest in the end. Don’t loose the eagerness and excitement that you had in the beginning. Regardless of your progress, remain focused and press toward your mark as you go forth in your new journey.
