Will Anger Kill You?
Will Anger Kill You?
ByHe That is slow to anger is of great understanding; But he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly. (Proverbs 14:29 ASV)
Your true colors really shine when you’re under pressure. If someone offends you or makes you angry, you have either two choices, you can choose to exercise peace or you can give into your flesh and let anger get the best of you.
Wrath is one of the seven deadliest sins.
There is no foundation in the bible where it talks about the seven deadliest sins. It was derived from the Roman Catholic culture where they believe some sins are a hindrance to our spiritual progress.
Every sin that we commit is deadly. The bible tells us in Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
Wrath is also one of the Works of The Flesh (see Galatians 5:19-21). Anytime you’re exemplifying the works of the flesh, you’re working against the Fruit of the Spirit.
When you strive to live a life of patience and peace, sometimes people will test you and put you under pressure to see if they can draw a negative reaction from you. When you respond in anger, you’re allowing them to take control over your emotions.
You should exercise patience and peace regardless. The scripture above tells us that He that is slow to anger is of great understanding; But he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly. It goes on to say in Proverbs 14:30, that “A tranquil heart is the life of the flesh; But envy is the rottenness of the bones.”
Friend you’re in control of your actions. It’s very easy to react in anger when something or someone upsets you but as the scripture says, A tranquil heart is the life of the flesh. Next time something upsets you, and you react in anger, remember that you’re allowing the enemy to have victory over your situation, and victory does not belong to the enemy, friend the victory is yours today in Jesus name!
