5 Things To Be Thankful For

By

It’s very easy to fall into a mindset of worry and doubt in this day in time. With the economy being in the state that it is, it’s tough to keep a positive outlook on life.

Sometimes you may find it tough to count your blessings, so just as a reminder, below is a list of 5 things to be thankful for:

1) Be thankful for your health and strength.

God’s grace and mercy is amazing. He continues to wake us up every day, even when we don’t deserve it. Remember there is someone on their death bed or even worse, someone who didn’t wake up this morning. It sounds cliche but be thankful that you have legs to walk and a tongue to talk. No one is promised tomorrow.

Count Your Blessings 2) Be thankful for food and shelter.

Sometimes we take the simple things for granted. The fact that you’ve got food to eat everyday is enough to keep a smile on your face. When I was younger I used to hear the saying that “There are starving people in third world countries…” I’m sure you’ve heard it at some point in time. Don’t take it lightly that you have a roof over your head and food to eat.

3) Be thankful for friends and family.

Remember to be thankful that you have people to call on. God puts people in our lives for either a reason, season or lifetime. It’s up to you to cherish your friends and family. Don’t take them for granted they may not be here tomorrow. Tell them you love them.

4) Be thankful for your protection.

Protection is an intangible thing but it is worthy of our gratitude. Be thankful for our armed forces fighting everyday for our protection. It’s not something that should be taken lightly. I don’t know the statistics of terrorist threats that our country gets but be thankful that God has the vessels in place to assure our safety.

5) Be thankful for maturity.

There’s a great saying, I may not be where I want to be but thank God, I’m not where I used to be. Be thankful that you are growing everyday, whether spiritually, mentally or physically. You are not the same person you were years ago or even months ago. God is constantly developing you and as a result you are becoming stronger in Christ.

We take so much for granted. You never know how good you have it until you are put in a worst predicament. Remember to be appreciative of what you have. Dwell only on the things you’re thankful for, never focus on the negative. I believe that what may seem like a curse is really a blessing in disguise.  God never makes mistakes.
