The Purpose of Having A Vision
The Purpose of Having A Vision
By Habakkuk 2:1-3 (KJV)
1I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower, and will watch to see what he will say unto me, and what I shall answer when I am reproved.
2And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.
3For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.
I’m a great believer in setting goals and achieving them. I’m not one to just roll with the punches and accept whatever life brings my way.
No matter what comes your way you must keep your eyes focused on your goals. The bible says to Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables.
Why do we need a vision?
Proverbs 29:18 says, “Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.”
The word Perish by definition means to become destroyed or ruined. Cease to exist.
The scripture is telling us that if we don’t set our goals in life we become ruined or cease to exist. It goes on to say if we hold firm to our goals we live happily.
I believe that if you don’t stand for something, you’ll fall for anything.
When contractors build a house, they must first map out the plans for that house. If they don’t map out the plans prior to building a house, they have no sense of direction as to where to start.
Without a plan in life, there is much confusion and heartache. If you are constantly progressing to the next level, you find that you are living a life of anticipation.
Focus on what you’re passionate about and keep that in mind. The bible says that an idle mind is the devil’s workshop.
Don’t wallow in sorrow and accept defeat. Stand boldly and declare that you are an overcomer. You are more than a conqueror. You might not see the end but as the scripture says though the vision tarry, wait for it. In the end it shall speak and not lie. Stay prayerful and stay faithful as you go through your life journey.
