You Are Not Enslaved To Your Past
You Are Not Enslaved To Your Past
ByTherefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. (1 Corinthians 5:17 KJV)
You are not what you used to be. Today is a new day, yesterday has passed. No matter what you’ve done in your past, know that you are made new.
It says in 1 Peter 2:24 (NIV) “He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.”
Know today that you are not enslaved to your past. It’s up to you to acknowledge your sins, confess them and look towards the future. As long as you are looking behind you, you’ll never rise to the new level that God has for you.
Imagine that you are driving, and instead of looking through your front windshield, you drive looking out the back window. That is a sure way to crash your car and possibly kill yourself.
As long as you are looking in your past, you are killing your destiny. You will never achieve your dreams and accomplishments as long as you are looking in your past.
Rise up, take up your cross and walk boldly in what God has called you to be. Lift your head up and put your shoulders back and declare that you are an over-comer.
I’m reminded of the story of Peter, when Jesus spoke to Peter and said “Come,” Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water towards Jesus. However, it wasn’t until he started to look at the boisterous winds that he became afraid and began to sink.
Although that is a story of the strong faith that Peter had, I believe that as long as you are looking forward towards your goal, instead of being fearful of the obstacles in your past, then will you rise into the victory that God has for you.
