Patience Is A Virtue

By

I was driving to work this morning, and traffic was backed up a little more than usual. I left on time but I’m guessing there was an accident.

As I was sitting there in traffic, I was noticing that I was getting a little stirred up because the accident was causing me to run late.

I don’t like to be late and my patience was starting to wear thin. Then the small voice inside of me told me to exercise patience. The truth is no matter how late I was running, there was nothing I could do about it.

How often do you get in a hurry about accomplishing what you set out to do, that you forget to exercise patience.

Whether you are in traffic running late for work or in line at the grocery store, always remember that patience is a virtue. Long-suffering is one of the Fruit of The Spirit (see Galatians 5:22) and it was one of the greatest characteristics that Jesus displayed.

Establishing Shot: The 405 I’m normally a tolerant person, but like many of us, I draw a line somewhere.

Do you find yourself wishing you had more patience? I do.

I’d encourage you, like I’d encourage myself, to pray for patience. The bible says you have not because you ask not. Anything that you need whether it’s long-suffering, peace, joy or any of the Fruit of The Spirit, the bible says that God rewards those who diligently seek after Him.

Seek God for patience and He will grant it to you.

I was at the post office earlier today and I let someone go ahead of me. They were already there filling out a form but they weren’t officially in line. As I was getting in line, I saw them moving towards the line and as they stood behind me, I turned around and told them, “go ahead of me, you were here before me.”

I could have just overlooked the opportunity to exercise patience and giving, but I felt led to show the act of kindness and allow another individual ahead of me.

You might be saying I’ve been waiting for years to start my own business, it’s okay to take the step of faith but if it’s not God’s time for you to start your business, you have to be sensitive to His timing.

Psalms 27:14 says “Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.

Patience is a virtue, exercise it today!
