The Greatest of These Is Love
ByMatthew 25:40 (NIV) “The King will reply, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.’
There’s a great saying that what goes around comes around. It’s cliche’ but I believe those are words to live by. 1 Corinthians 13:13 says “And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.”
Love is the greatest seed that you can sow.
The bible refers to Agape love as an unconditional love. Jesus was the only one that displayed agape love when He lived on earth.
How often do you write a person off when they’ve done you wrong. Do you ever try to look past their actions and forgive them.
God has mercy enough to wake us up every morning, regardless of our sins. Truth be told, we don’t deserve all the blessings and favor that God shows us but He sent His son, Jesus, to die on the cross for our sins so that we might be saved.
Jesus gave His life out of love and all He wants us to do in return is love like He loved. 1 Peter 4:8 (NIV) says Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.
Next time you’re tempted to put up a wall when someone wrongs you, remember the hurt and pain that Jesus faced when He was here on earth.
I’m reminded of Peter and how he wanted to follow Christ to the grave. And Jesus said, “Where I go you can’t follow.” Peter said, “I will lay my life down for you” and Jesus responded “Before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times.”
And it happened indeed, but in the end Jesus gave His life for all of us. He had the option of coming down from the cross but He gave His life out of love for us.
Remember as you go along your day to day journey, people will do things to test you. However, it’s up to you to be an example and show love regardless.
Sometimes people will do things just to stir you up, and they won’t understand when you respond in a loving way and forgive them, but remember the scripture says that what you do for the least of these you do unto Him.
No one is perfect. Jesus was the only perfect person, but I dare you to raise the standard. Make the decision to have a heart of love and compassion for one another. I’ve said it before and I will say it again, for some people, you’re the only Jesus that they will see. Be the light that men need to see.
