The True Art of Giving
The True Art of Giving
By Luke 6:38 (NIV) Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measure to you.
We’re approaching the season of thanksgiving and before long we will be buying gifts for our friends and family.
I’ll be the first to admit that I love receiving gifts. Who doesn’t? But I also love the feeling I get when I give a gift, especially when it’s for someone in need or a great cause. I feel a sense of satisfaction knowing that I am able to pour into someone’s spirit.
As the scripture says, give and it will come back to you. Even though it says it will be given back to you, God looks at your hear t when you give. He loves a cheerful giver. Therefore, give not expecting anything in return. We must give with a grateful heart.
A gift doesn’t always have to be in the form of money or presents, it can be in the form of giving up your time, showing love, or granting favor to someone. Extend a helping hand to someone who is down in despair.
As you go through your day, look for the opportunity to bless someone. When you get to work or school in the morning, go out of your way and greet as many people with a smile and a hello, some people just want to be acknowledged.
Let someone in front of you in rush hour traffic or be kind enough to open doors for others, even when they don’t show appreciation for you kindness, it’s your heart that God sees and He will honor that.
